For the last few weeks P6 have been going to Edinburgh Academy for climbing sessions on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. In the first week we started by traversing (climbing sideways) around the walls and bouldering (climbing up) to low heights.
The next week, things got more exciting and we were given harnesses and the difficulty climbed to the next level! Some skills we had to learn on that week included abseiling.
On the third and final week things got harder and we got to climb on the hardest routes to the ceiling.
When I asked a boy in P6 what he found hard or scary at climbing, he answered, “For me it was abseiling for the first time.”
When I asked a girl in P6 about what she enjoyed the most about the climbing she replied, “When I abseiled down the climbing wall for the first time.”
P6 have thoroughly enjoyed their experiences at climbing and are looking forward to developing their skills at Benmore in P7.
