Loose Parts play at Wardie

Wardie school recently introduced the Loose Parts Play Initiative across P1 – 7.  All pupils now have the opportunity to take part in this at least one day each week at break and lunch times.

Loose parts (otherwise known as junk!) are items and materials that children can use for creative play. Presently at Wardie they consist of things such as tyres, pallets, ropes, traffic cones, tarpaulin, pots and pans,………the list goes on and on!

Our Loose Parts programme so far has been very successful and helps to inspire children to develop their imagination and creativity through their play.  Every day the Loose Parts sessions are shared with two different year groups and this has also given children the important opportunity to develop communication skills with children from different stages.

We are always on the lookout for more resources for the children to play with.  If you have any materials you would like to donate please contact the school office.

Please take a look at our screenshow to see some of the wonderful creations our children have come up with.
